he will of Daniel Murphree appears in the 1770-1900 Unrecorded Wills of Chatham County, North Carolina.
      On the outer sleeve that contains the will is written "Chatham Inf Court August 1771 Proved in open Court by the oaths of John Hatley & Thomas Ward two of the fubscribing Witnefses ---"  On another part of the sleeve is written "Last Will of Danl Murphree & Inventory To be recorded"  Also written on the sleeve is the number 21 and a notation "August 1771 proved."
Last Will and Testament of Daniel Murphree
Chatham County, North Carolina - 10 November 1769

"In the name of god amen the tenth day of November in the year of our lord 1769 I Daniel Murphree of the County of orang Planter Being Sick and Weak in Body But of perfect Mind and Memory thanks be given unto god Therefore Calling unto mind the mortality of my Body and Knowing that it is appointed for all men Once to Die Do make and ordain this my Last Will and testament that is to Say Principally and firft of all I give and Recommend My Soul into the hands of god that gave it. and for my Body I Recommend it to Earth to be buried in a Chriftianlike and Decent Manner at the Difcretion of my Executers nothing Doubting but at the general Refurrection I Shall Receive the Same again by the mighty power of god and as touching such Worldly Eftate Wherewith it hath pleafed god to blefs me With in this life I give Devife and difpose of the Same in the following Manner and form ---

"firft and foremoft I Lend to my Well Beloved Wife Sarah Murphree the plantation Whereon I now Live and all my houfehold goods & Chattles after all My Juft Debts is paid and Some Legefses here after menfehened

"Item I give my Well beloved James Murphree the plantation where on he Now Lives ---

"Item I give to my Well Beloved Son Daniel Murphree the land Where on he Now Lives ---

"Item I give to My Well Beloved son John Murphree the plantation that I Bought of Demfey Rawls With half the Land and the other half I give to my Well bloved Son Levi Murphree to be Equally Divied

"Item I give to my Well Beloved Son Solomon Murphree a plantation that I made on the Lord Earl Granvils Land With half the Land that Shall be Saved when the office is open and the other half of the Said Land I give to my Well Beloved Son Mofes Murphree alfo I ordain that there Shall be as much leavid out of my perfonnal Eftate as Will Make a Right to the Said Land When my Lord Granvils office is open ---

"Item I give to my Well Beloved Son David Murphree thirty Pounds to Be Raifed of Leavid out of my Eftate ---

"Item I give to my Well Beloved Daughter Elizabeth Barnf five Shillings ---

"Item I give to my Well Bloved Daughter Sarah Blyth five Shillings ---

"Item I give to my Well Beloved Daughter Milley Murphree ten pounds ---

"Item I give to my Well Beloved Daughter Edey Murphree ten pounds ---

"Item I give to my Well Beloved Daughter Mary Murphree ten pounds to Be Leavid out of my Eftate ---

"Item I give to my Well Beloved Son William Murphree the Plantation Whereon I Now Live alfo I ordain James murphree and William Murphree Executors of this my Last Will and Teftament alfo I ordain that if Either of my Childrin Should Die Without ifsue their Land or part Shall fall to my younger Son David Murphree and if more than one Should Die Without ifsue their part to be Devided amongst the Reft and I Do hereby utterly Dfsallow and Revolke Difannul all and Every other former teftement Wills Legacies Bequfts and Executors By me is any Way Before this time Named Willed and Bequeathed ---

"Ralifying and Confirming this and no other to be My Last Will and teftement in Witnefs Whereof  I have hereunto Set my hand and seal this Day and year above Written ---
