Murphree I and Sarah Dempsey Murphree. Solomon James graduated from old Blount College at Blountsville, Alabama in 1886, and he taught school in Blount County ten years before his marriage to Lucy May Elam on March 10, 1896. He farmed until his death on March 13, 1917. He was buried at Center Church Cemetery near his home on Route 3, Oneonta. He was very active in the Methodist Church, serving as Church School Superintendent and Song Leader much of the time. He and his wife raised a family of twelve children: Roy died in his twenties; Homer married Elsie Beasley --- their children are Janice Pass, Nedra Green, Reggie, and Karen Mae Green; Percy married Zula Mae Green --- children June Taylor and Spurgeon; Glen married Mae Box --- children, Glenda Mae Jones and Irving; Hugh married Hattie Epperson --- children, Mary Ellen and Carol Woodard; Paul married Onez Horton --- children, Jean Struck and Jimmie; Clark married Ruby Hays --- children, Rex, Daniel and David; Tharon married Lois Sisson --- son, Stanley; Floyd married Lorene Wood --- children, Joan Comas and Jobeth; Lucy married W. A. Holmes --- children, Alfred and Randy; Alta married Wilburn Smith --- children, Annabelle Kent, Ralph, McArthur, Paul and Larry; Irene married Clifford Sisson. ---END
